The Importance Of Water Tanks

Urbanized countries like the United States really don’t give much appreciation to water tanks for the reason that water is hardly ever an issue. Water is the most important natural resource, yet it is taken for granted by people. The need for water and use of water tanks are much more appreciated in poorer countries.

For that reason, we now celebrate World Water Day each year. The United Nations General Assembly has declared March 22 as World Water Day or the World Day for Water. This all began in 1993.

There are no major activities to commemorate this day, although the United Nations encourages people to simply not use the tap for the entire day in order to conserve this life-giving natural resource. Various issues are taken up annually so that every country can take part in an occasion like this. Global concerns that are connected to water can be an example of possible subject matter for the occasion.

For every country, the UN teams up with non-government groups. The work of these organizations is to gain the attention of the government and other people so that they are able to send forth their message about clean water and the preservation of aquatic life. Since 1997, the World Water Council has been able to generate annual participation in a special discussion group called the World Water Forum.

With the forum they discussed why many people could still not have clean and safe water. This is a sad realization, especially for the fact that water is taken for granted in wealthy nations. To solve this problem, the Council has made it a point that every country must have an annual report about the status of their water.

Last year the theme was “Water for Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge” and in 2010 it was “Clean Water for a Healthy World”. In making the theme, it must be socially relevant and must be really be thought about. The theme that is final will then be distributed among various organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO), Science and Culture Organization (UNESCO), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and many more.

The water tank business is very simple but it does great wonders. Water tanks are constructed so that safe and clean water will be conserved. Storage tanks are being used in farming, agriculture and irrigation and that is really a great advantage for them.

Man has learned to create water tanks ever since civilization began. Locations for the first settlements were near water sources such as rivers and lakes. There was a time that early humans needed to live on land far from the lakes and rivers and that is why they had to make earthen tanks and storage tanks.

Today, leading industries in the US still make use of water tanks. The elevated water storage facilities are the most common ones. The elevation creates pressure, and this is what allows water to travel to different homes within a community.

Water tanks also have commercial functions in some fields. They can be used in irrigation systems and in feeding domestic animals. The creation of water tanks is just one more indicator of how valuable water is, and how safe and potable water and our earth must be preserved.
